In this, Final Fantasy VII cleverly communicates to the player that the mass of purple polygons topped with yellow spikes (Cloud) is attractive to women like Jessie. The original 'FF7' makes it clear that Jessie has a "special" reaction to seeing Cloud here. But Jessie also pays special attention to him in a way that is clearly flirty in a subtle but also obvious way. She’s warm and welcoming to protagonist Cloud Strife, explaining the city layout in one memorable set-piece. Jessie is only a bit of a flirt in the original game. But Jessie and a few other Avalanche members die around the end of the game’s first act before the real globe-trotting epic adventure begins. Shinra’s Mako Reactors are draining the planet’s life force, so Avalanche is on a spree destroying reactors with bombs Jessie builds at the start of the game. This former actor turned bomb-maker works with party members Barret and Tifa as part of Avalanche, an eco-terrorist group that seeks to undermine the Shinra Energy Corporation. Jessie first appears as a wholesome pile of pixels with boob armor in the original. And it does this by giving Jessie, like everyone else, a really intense glow-up. Can you tell who's who? Square EnixįF7 Remake transforms a classic Japanese role-playing game with polygonal character models into a modern-day thirst trap. 'FF7' Jessie and 'FF7 Remake' Jessie standing on a staircase in Shinra tower. Even though my heart ached when Jessie disappeared in the back-half of the game, and my heart broke after her inevitable death, I still had a spectacular time on this horny adventure. It is a dream come true that was made for me and me alone. Yet it is a very real video game expertly made by the professionals. (“Oh, dearest, I suspect we’ll have ourselves a most exciting time together, you and I!”) But 2020’s biggest flirt in gaming is without question Jessie.Īt times, FF7 Remake feels like a smutty fanfiction I might’ve written in my teenage years to work through these feelings. The goddess Aphrodite is downright thirsty in Hades, tantalizing Zagreus from atop Mount Olympus. Other characters in gaming this year - like Dina from The Last of Us Part II- come off as flirty and fun-loving in a very human way. But for Jessie to become a leading lady and this year’s biggest flirt in Final Fantasy VII Remake makes my head spin. Why do I adore a mostly neutral side character who dies very early in the story? I may never know. I’ve struggled my entire adult life to reckon with that infatuation. Perhaps in the new timeline, she wasn’t even part of Avalanche and leads a completely different life than the one you know of.I’ve had a crush on Jessie Rasberry from Final Fantasy VII for more than 20 years. So how did she survive the collapse of the plate in Sector 7? Maybe Cait Sith ( who was shown when the plate was falling) rescued her? It seems like the alteration of the timeline applies to both present and past ( where Zack was).Īnd since Zack was kept alive, other characters like Biggs and Jessie may have been kept alive too. The explosion was witnessed by Zack as well in the past. The only way that Jessie is possibly alive is due to the main characters messing with the timeline.Īfter Cloud and the rest defeated Whisper Harbinger, the timeline seems to have been messed with.ĭuring the ending scenes, you should be able to see those bright glitters in the sky after the explosion. In Biggs’ apparent death scene, you can see his gloves clearly as he reached out for Cloud’s hand. His doesn’t have those thin straps and they seem to be of a different color. Some said that those are just Biggs’ gloves but the one Biggs is seen wearing looks different. You can see her gloves a couple of times in the game and it looks similar to hers, especially with the red strap on the gloves. This seems to hint that Jessie is still around and it really looks like her gloves, if you compare it to other scenes in the game. Yep, Biggs is alive at the end of the game. There’s also a headband there but that might just be Biggs’. So did Jessie really die in the Remake? Will she come back to life for part 2 of the game seeing how the plot ghosts have been stopped?ĭuring the ending cutscenes of Final Fantasy 7’s Remake, Jessie’s gloves seem to be on the desk in the room where Biggs is resting. In FF7 Remake, Jessie is seen to be dying at the pillar when you meet her with Tifa. Their deaths were not shown directly but they are assumed to have died off-screen. In the original Final Fantasy 7, Jessie is presumed to be dead alongside Biggs and Wedge during the fight at the Sector 7 pillar. Jessie is one of the main characters for the Avalanche sub-unit in Midgar, together with Barret, Biggs and Wedge.
